DIY Abstract Canvas Painting

sofa | lumbar pillows | square pillows

I’ve been looking for a piece of large-scale art for above our sofa and haven’t had any luck at a reasonable price. My home is very neutral, and I wanted something abstract that was also neutral. When I couldn’t seem to find what I wanted, I decided to take matters into my own hands and attempted making the art myself.

This was one of the easier DIY projects I’ve done, and people are always impressed at how good of a “painter” I am…

Blue or Pink, What Do You Think?

I’ll be 22 weeks along this weekend and we still don’t know Baby Hughes #2’s gender. We had our anatomy scan at 18 weeks and had the doctor write down the baby’s gender on a few pieces of paper that she sealed up tight. We’re planning a gender reveal party for this Saturday, over three weeks after our scan. It was super tricky the first week, but we have NOT peeked. And ever since I’ve been planning the actual party, I’ve just been too excited to…

20 Week Bumpdate

This week we’re officially half way through our pregnancy with baby #2! This pregnancy has been flying by. Everyone says it’s because I have a toddler, but I think it’s a combo of that and I’m just not hyper-focused on every detail of this pregnancy like I was with my first. Having gone through it once before, I don’t feel the need to google every little thing, check my pregnancy app daily (or…

dress | sweater

Sometimes dressing your new bump body is tricky, and it seems to be changing all the time. For some reason, the majority of maternity clothes are just NOT as cute as regular clothes. There are too many weird prints, tons of ruching and even the fabrics themselves seem to be of worse quality. But some brands do a great job with their clothes, and it is possible to find awesome maternity clothes without spending a fortune on a new wardrobe!

Some of my favorite places to shop for reasonably…

We had a little holiday get together the other weekend and whipped up this festive drink…it’s an easy way to add some extra Christmas cheer to your party!

We used a few different recipes found on Pinterest to concoct this one, then put a skewer of cranberries in each glass.

Ingredients:

  • 2 bottles white wine (I used Pinot Grigio)
  • 1 cup sparkling apple cider
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 Granny Smith apple, chopped
  • 1 cup cranberries
  • 6 rosemary…

DIY Linen Pinboard

play table | play chairs | picture light

This pinboard was a SUPER easy DIY project and was incredibly inexpensive. It cost me about $15…much cheaper than this exact same size $169 Pottery Barn one that I used as inspiration! I put it in Wyatt’s playroom to display his artwork, but it can be used anywhere- a kitchen for all those miscellaneous papers, pictures & coupons, an office or even a bedroom.
