My Go-To “Bow”tique

When I want a certain color bow the first place I look is Amy Boutique. For everyday bows, I gravitate towards linen. Their bows are made with beautiful fabrics & knots and the price is right. There is a large selection so generally I find a few at one time that I want to order. They also have a lot of options as far as bow size, style & finish (nylon headband, even different colors for different skin colors, clip, etc.) Amy Boutique also has masks in all their cute…

Transitioning from Crib to Bed

Big Boy Bed

We got Wyatt a big boy bed when he was two and a half. He wasn’t showing any signs of climbing out of his crib and he was perfectly comfortable in there, we hadn’t potty trained yet so he didn’t need to get out for any reason, but we needed his crib for baby Reese.

I spent a lot of time deciding on what kind of bed I wanted for his room. I decided to skip a toddler bed, we wouldn’t get that much time out of it so it seemed like a waste of…

Wyatt’s Big Boy Room

Here’s a look at Wyatt’s “big boy” room. I redid it over a year ago at this point, so it’s finally time I share it.

I went for a subtle vintage sports theme in Wyatt’s room. I wanted it masculine, but still kid friendly, with things he could age with without it being too “themey.” I used neutrals, dark metals & muted blues.

I wanted to use pieces in his room that had meaning since our family is no stranger to sports. I incorporated some pictures of Tim (Wyatt’s dad) playing baseball, he played D1 in…

Breastfeeding a Baby with a Dairy & Soy Intolerance

The Symptoms

My biggest struggle with breastfeeding this round was Reese’s dairy & soy intolerance. Reese was overall a much easier baby than Wyatt was, she was much more independent from the beginning in regards to sleep and separation, but she cried A LOT, and getting her to sleep and keeping her asleep was a huge challenge. We started noticing her body never really seemed settled or relaxed and she was incredibly fussy, we thought maybe we had a colicky baby. Then at around 7 weeks I started to notice blood in her stool, which had also been pretty mucousy…

Breastfeeding Experience & Weaning

0

Breastfeeding both of my children had been positive experiences. Sure, I had my fair share of blocked ducts, sore nipples, baby nibbles turned into painful bites, and countless hours of feeling like a human pacifier over the course of 26 months total of breastfeeding. But also countless hours of staring into the tiny face of a baby that I was able to connect & bond with through this experience. I was not a mom who loved breastfeeding (I also didn’t hate it), it didn’t feel super magical to me like some moms talk about, but overall it felt…

No-Sew Faux Roman Shades

0

We have two skinny windows next to our master bed that I’ve struggled with. Some basic shades exist on them already that aren’t very visually appealing. I decided roman shades were the way to go with these, however after scouring the internet, I found super limited options at the width I would need, and I am not ready to commit to custom shades for this space. So I decided to make my own window coverings. I do not sew, so I used iron-on adhesive and it worked so well! Note that because I have blackout shades behind the faux roman…
