Thank you to Serena & Lily for sponsoring this post, as always, all opinions are my own.
No doubt you’ve seen these natural, lidded baskets from Serena & Lily all over Instagram, and if you follow me, all over my house. They are designed beautifully, and not only multi-functional, but eye catching. They warm up a neutral space & because of their natural charm, can fit into so many decor settings, they are my favorite storage baskets.
They have definitely been a game-changer in our home for many reasons & that’s why I love them & honestly can’t get enough of them.
Basket Design
The La Jolla Baskets have a natural, beachy look with their resin wrapped seagrass coils, each designed with two handles for carrying, and a lid. No two are exactly alike because they are hand crafted, which adds to their charm. They are inspired by traditional market baskets & have fit into so many rooms of our home. The baskets themselves are heavy duty, but lightweight. My kids can move the small and medium sizes on their own, depending on what we have stored in them.
Their size really sets them apart from other similar baskets. The small starts at 15″ diameter and 21″ in height, which is a pretty large basket in itself. There is a medium & a large, and the large is really quite a good size and can fit so much. We easily fit 7 family room blankets in ours. Here are the size breakdowns:
- Small: 15″DIAM x 21″H with lid. 16”H without lid.
- Medium: 18″ DIAM x 25″H with lid. 20”H without lid.
- Large: 21″DIAM x 30″H with lid. 23”H without lid.
I only have the solid versions currently, but they also come in a beautiful blue and also a natural.
How We Use Them in Our Home
One of my favorite things to have around my home are storage baskets. They make rooms look tidier & make clean up for kids a breeze. The Serena & Lily La Jolla Baskets have quickly become my all-time favorite, and I have them in multiple rooms of our house. They keep our messes at bay and HIDDEN because they have a lid. They are as much a piece of decor as they are functional & have many, many uses!
Currently in our home we use two of them in our entryway for my toddler’s coats & shoes, and baby carriers & wraps. My toddler can’t reach the hooks in our entry closet, so putting her things in a basket on the floor gives her the independence to get & put away her coats & shoes. In the winter, her hats & mittens go in there a well. It helps mommy out, and makes my daughter more self-sufficient. Things that don’t really work on hangers, like baby wraps & carriers are great for storing in baskets and make them easy to grab on our way out the door.
In our family room, we store our blankets in the large basket and toys in the small and medium sizes. They are all positioned around our fireplace for a cohesive look even though their contents are different. We can fit a TON of full sized blankets in the large size, which comes in handy since I tend to just cover my sectional in blankets when my kids sit or snack on them to prevent too many messes.
Storing toys in these baskets is one of my favorite functions of them. You can have toys in rooms that you still want to remain adult spaces, even if you don’t have a ton of built-in storage. Those bulky toys that don’t fit well anywhere else, but are NOT attractive, are perfect to throw in the La Jollas and make it so easy for your kids to clean up after themselves. They make a perfect addition to a playroom as well! Lidded toy baskets as storage is definitely the way to go! These Riviera Baskets also fit nicely into many playroom storage units, and these bins on wheels would be a great spot for toys in a playroom as well!
It was a no-brainer to add a few into the new baby’s nursery for toys and baby blankets, I might even use them for laundry in here. The handles make toting the baskets to and from a laundry room a breeze, no need to hide an ugly plastic laundry bin anywhere.
This Rectangular La Jolla Basket would also be beautiful in a nursery for blankets or books. The no-lid version would make looking through and picking out books for little ones easy-peasy!
I currently have six La Jolla Baskets in our home, and always consider adding more in other rooms! Some other lidded Serena & Lily baskets that I love are the Madakets, these gorgeous scalloped baskets, and the Dot collection. For their complete basket collection, click here.
