With only a few weeks left before his arrival, I decided it was finally time to set up Baby Hughes #3’s nursery. I had been putting it off because I was hesitant to move Wyatt out of his room and up to the third floor, but luckily that transition was easier than expected & I was able to start creating a space for our newest addition!
I knew for this third baby that I wanted his nursery to reflect the light & airy look that I’m naturally drawn to, incorporating a lot of shades of baby, light & powder blues that I love so much. I wanted a nod to a coastal vibe, but not an overwhelming nautical theme. With the help of one of my favorite places for all things beautiful for the home, Serena & Lily, I felt like I pulled off a good start to transforming Wyatt’s big boy room into baby #3’s nursery! Thank you to Serena & Lily for sponsoring this post, as always, all opinions are my own. Read on for some sources & how I am beginning to build this nursery!
If you want to know what the space looked like before when it was Wyatt’s room, here’s my post on that, and below are a few snaps!
The first item I knew I had to have was this gingham crib sheet, it’s the perfect sky blue that I then coordinated all other shades of blue in the space with. The quality of the S&L bedding is top notch, I was pleasantly surprised at how soft & thick the crib sheet is! I also got this toile sheet, and this one priano pattern is another favorite of mine! The Ashdown sheet is new and so precious for a little one’s nursery.
The Bayside Blanket is so soft & the stripes kept the room feeling coastal without an overwhelming nautical vibe. I might need to add this quilt or blanket in next, they’re just so dreamy!
Adding some natural elements like rattan and seagrass helped the nursery feel coastal while breaking up all of the whites & blues. One of my favorite things to have around my home are storage baskets. They make rooms look tidier & make clean up for kids a breeze. My all-time favorites are the S&L La Jolla Baskets, I have them in multiple rooms of our house & they keep the mess at bay especially because they have a lid! I use them for blankets & toys, so it was a no-brainer to add a few into the nursery, I might even use them for laundry in here! This Rectangular La Jolla Basket would also be beautiful in a nursery for blankets or books.
One slightly unconventional piece I added to this space is the Beaufort Tray. This oversized raffia & seagrass tray that I usually use for toting beverages actually fits a changing pad perfectly, I pulled it out just to see if it would work somewhere in the space and low & behold it was a perfect fit! I like that it frames out all the airy white, while holding the changing pad in place, and adds a natural element to this half of the room. Some of these seagrass organizers would also be nice on top of a changing table.
As I continue to work on this space I will share more progress & sources. We have less than a month until our sweet new boy comes, I can barely believe it!
